Enhancing Student Engagement in Technical Writing through Publication and Recognition

Enhancing student engagement in technical writing courses remains a key challenge in engineering education. This talk explores three initiatives designed to address this issue by providing meaningful publication opportunities to the students of a technical writing course in a university.

Azfar Adib
Educational Activities Group Chair, IEEE Canada

Azfar Adib is a doctoral candidate in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Concordia University in Montreal, Canada. He holds a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from BUET and an MBA from IBA, Dhaka University. With over eight years in the telecommunications sector, he has contributed to the launch of 2G, 3G, 4G, and IoT services. His current research focuses on smart health biometrics and bi-directional learning between humans and machines. Azfar is actively involved in IEEE Canada, serving as the Regional Student Representative for Region 7. He has facilitated leadership workshops for graduate students and has a strong passion for public speaking, writing, and STEM outreach.
